Texas Country Highways

While I’m working on the big painting for the next “plein air” post, here’s another quick, small painting from the same trip.  When you leave Weimar, TX on Holman Highway, look for this tree and the windy roads.  It’s a scene you shouldn’t miss.

Here’s the quick photo I snapped on my way home:

reference pic. Love that oak.

I added a truck toting a round hay bale, twisted the roads a bit more and added a bit of green grass, but overall this scene really composed itself.
